Local Government Act (Chapter 40:01)
An Act to consolidate the Local Government (District Councils) Act and the Townships Act and to provide for the establishment of Councils and for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.
The Local Government Act lays down provision regarding Councils establishment, restructuring, declaration of Township and conferment of city status, powers and duties of Councils, constitution of Councils and Subordinate Authorities, procedures concerning Councils proceedings such as meetings, voting system, record keeping, public participation, privilege of immunity and regulation on staff appointment, revenues of Councils, Accounts and Audits.
